A Crown Devon cobalt blue gilt Chinoiserie jug. The ceramic body features a deep cobalt blue glaze, adorned with an ornate Chinoiserie-style landscape scene. This polychrome enamel decoration depicts pagodas, bridges, and trees, extensively highlighted with gilding. Further gilding is present on the decorative elements, rim, and handle. The body is subtly molded with horizontal bands. The base bears a printed mark featuring a crown, “MADE IN ENGLAND” arched above, “CROWN DEVON” below the crown, and the model number “5180”. An additional partially legible incised alphanumeric mark, “S/S 9L?”, is also present.
