A collection of vintage domestic and commercial weighing equipment, featuring a Salter Staffordshire cast iron counter-top scale. This scale has a dark green painted cast iron body with a tarnished brass pan, bearing partial manufacturer markings such as ‘THE SALTER STAFFORD,’ and is accompanied by several rusted iron weights, including those marked ‘2 LB’ and ‘1 LB.’ Also included is a second counter-top scale, black painted cast iron with a dark, patinated metal pan, accompanied by its own stack of rusted iron weights, with visible markings like ‘5 LB’ and ‘2 LB.’ A black rectangular tin contains a varied assortment of additional round, heavily rusted iron weights, some distinctly marked ‘4 LB,’ ‘2 LB,’ and ‘1 LB.’ The collection is completed by a brass-bodied hand-held spring balance, marked ‘IMPROVED BALANCE’ and ‘PATENT,’ complete with a graduated scale and a metal hook.
