An antique 18th Century Baroque oak brass dome top hope chest. This dark-stained hardwood trunk features a distinctive domed lid, reinforced by horizontal brass or bronze strapping which continues down the sides. The rectangular body is also accented with vertical metal straps, and the piece stands on four bun feet. It is fitted with twisted metal drop handles on the sides, likely patinated brass or iron. The interior is unlined, constructed of plain wood, and secured by brass hinges.
