A early 20th Century Portable Writing Slope. This hinged, rectangular period writing slope is crafted from a reddish-brown hardwood, possibly mahogany, with brass hinges and a brass escutcheon plate on the front. The interior is lined with green felt and features a hinged writing surface upholstered in textured green leather, adorned with decorative gold tooling around the border. Beneath the hinged writing surface, a shallow compartment is revealed, situated above a deeper main compartment containing two wooden battens.
