A Philips B3G97U vintage valve radio receiver, circa 1959. The radio features a dark brown/black Bakelite casing with a cream/off-white plastic front panel. The front displays a woven fabric speaker grille and a glass-covered tuning dial marked with bands including “FM”, “VHF”, “MEDIUM”, and “LONG”, along with numerous station names and “LIGHT” indication. Control is provided by two prominent knurled metal and plastic knobs, one labeled “ON-OFF – VOLUME”, and several smaller push-button switches. The rear panel is a vented hardboard with marked inputs for “EARTH” and “AERIAL”, a “MAINS VOLTAGE” indicator, “FUSE” holder, and a warning label stating “BEFORE REMOVING BACK – DISCONNECT FROM MAINS”. A UK-style 3-pin power plug is attached to the cord.
