Lot 38: A Glazed Earthenware Figural Monkey Incense Burner

A glazed earthenware figural object depicting a stylized monkey seated on a crescent-shaped base. The base is adorned with hand-painted floral or leaf motifs in reddish-brown and dark brown. The primary glaze is an aged off-white or cream, with the monkey’s head featuring a dark, almost black, glaze. A small circular hole is present on the monkey’s chest, and a larger, bowl-like opening is found on the crown of its head, suggesting its function as an incense burner or pipe. The unglazed base reveals a rough, earthy ceramic body. No visible text or maker’s marks are present.
