A pair of antique Japanese Satsuma Moriage hand-painted porcelain trinket boxes. Each small, circular, lidded box features detailed enamel decoration. The lids depict a central deity-like figure, possibly Kannon or Guanyin, with a halo and elaborate robes, attended by a smaller figure, all resting on clouds against an orange and reddish-brown ground, outlined with gilt accents. The rims of both the lids and bases are decorated with a delicate gold wave or scroll pattern, while the interiors are white. The underside of one base bears a red mark which translates from Japanese as ‘Satsuma’ (薩摩).
