A framed watercolor painting depicting a tropical coastal scene, executed in a traditional style reminiscent of the late 19th or early 20th century. The artwork features a single-masted sailboat moored by a sandy beach with numerous palm trees and white flowering bushes in the foreground. It is presented under glass within a wide, plain light brown mat and housed in a simple black frame, likely wood or composite. The reverse side features a cardboard backing with a label from “PAGE & MEADOWCROFT Photographers and Picture Frame Makers” of Bury and Rochdale. Handwritten annotations on the backing indicate it was “Bought from Rochdale Exhibition on the 25th August 1972” by H. Riley, seemingly as a belated 25th wedding anniversary gift for an anniversary dated August 25, 1970.
