Vintage, Collectables, Gold, Silver & General Auction (14% Buyers Commission)
This lot comprises two Royal Mint ‘Brilliant Uncirculated’ £1 coin presentation packs, dating from 1986 and 1996, both commemorating Northern Ireland. The 1986 pack, housed in a textured card sleeve, features imagery of flax flowers and a crown, containing a gold-toned coin depicting the hexagonal columns of the Giant’s Causeway. The 1996 pack, presented in a more decoratively styled sleeve with Celtic knotwork and a green, stone-like background, contains a gold-toned coin bearing an animal motif, identified within the pack as ‘Mac Lir’s horses’. This pack also includes a photographic depiction of an ornate gold ‘Broughter collar’ with accompanying historical context relating to Irish Iron Age artifacts.
