A ceramic mug by Lancaster & Sandland Ltd., Hanley, Staffordshire, England, in ‘The Mariner’s Compass’ pattern. This black ceramic mug or tankard features a white sgraffito-style design on its exterior, depicting “THE MARINER’S COMPASS,” a detailed compass rose with cardinal and intercardinal points, and a sailing ship. The interior is a contrasting lighter color. Both the rim and handle are accented with gold. A small boot graphic is present on the reverse side. The base is marked “1206” and “LANCASTER & SANDLAND LTD. HANLEY STAFFORDSHIRE ENGLAND.”
