General Auction, Antiques, Gold & Silver (14% Buyers Commission)
This lot comprises a diverse collection of wooden and one metal box. The primary item is a rectangular wooden box, likely oak, featuring a brass escutcheon with an engraved “K” on its lid and a blue felt-lined interior. Contained within this larger box are three smaller wooden boxes: one marked “Justus van Maurik SINDS 1794 CLASSIQUE HANDGELECTEERD HOLLAND” (Hand-selected), another marked “CAFÉ CRÈME SIGAREN HANDGELECTEERD Henri Wintermans” (Cigars Hand-selected), and one plain wooden box. Also inside the main oak box is a small rectangular metal box with ornate embossed decoration and a red velvet interior.
Accompanying these are additional boxes: a dark-stained wooden box, identified as a Symphonion music box casing, with “Symphonion” in gold lettering on the lid and a sepia-toned print of cherubs on the lid’s interior, though it appears to lack its internal mechanism. Further included are a light-colored wooden box with a red velvet-lined lid bearing “ELISABETH BAS” and “EMINENT”, and another light-colored wooden box with internal compartments and a yellow foam strip in its lid.
Main oak box: Height approximately 9 cm.
Symphonion box: Height approximately 14 cm.
