A set of four Wedgwood Historic Year Collector’s Plates, crafted from fine china. Each plate features a central polychrome illustration depicting a historical scene related to Wedgwood pottery. Surrounding each central image is a broad border adorned with black-and-white line drawings of classical figures, vases, and extensive handwritten script, appearing as archival or inventory notes, including numerical values and descriptions such as “Green Glass,” “fountain,” and various pottery types. All plates are edged with a gilded rim. The depicted scenes include “MR WEDGWOOD’S COPY OF THE PORTLAND VASE” featuring a portrait of Josiah Wedgwood, a “JASPER SHOWROOM AT THE WEDGWOOD FACTORY, ETRURIA, CIRCA 1900,” “THE WEDGWOOD EXHIBIT THE GREAT EXHIBITION, CRYSTAL PALACE 1851,” and “THE CERAMICS GALLERY THE VICTORIA AND ALBERT MUSEUM 1879.” These pieces commemorate the legacy and history of Wedgwood ceramics.
