A Victorian sterling silver urn-form caster. The lidded caster features an urn-like body with a reeded lower half and a plain upper section, topped by a domed, decoratively pierced lid and a finial. English hallmarks are visible on the upper body, including a lion passant for sterling silver, an anchor for the Birmingham assay office, a monarch’s head duty mark, and the date letter ‘q’, likely corresponding to 1839/40.
