Lot 85: An Art Nouveau Cast Bronze Notre Dame de Lourdes 'Le Miracle du Cierge' Music Box

An Art Nouveau cast bronze sculpture depicting the apparition of Our Lady of Lourdes, often incorporating a music box mechanism. The sculpture features a taller, standing figure of the Virgin Mary, heavily draped with hands clasped in prayer, standing upon a rocky base. Kneeling before her on a rectangular plinth is a smaller figure, likely Saint Bernadette Soubirous, holding a staff or taper and looking upwards. The plinth bears the inscribed text: “LE MIRACLE DU CIERGE” (The Miracle of the Candle/Taper) and partially “Par B***”. Crafted in cast bronze, the item exhibits an aged patination consistent with its apparent material and age.
