A vintage, possibly late 19th or early 20th-century, “The Imperial Hand Camera” by C.J.C. Manufacturing Co. The box-style hand camera is constructed from dark-stained wood with brass hardware, including corner reinforcements and a leather carrying handle. Accompanying the camera are five wooden plate holders, each with brass hinges and escutcheons. A small, dark brown case, likely leather or imitation leather, is present and legibly marked with “THE IMPERIAL HAND CAMERA / C.J.C. MANUFACTURING CO / 99, QUEEN VICTORIA ST / LONDON E.C.”. The collection also includes an additional camera lens set in a square wooden mount and several flat, dark metal plates, likely dark slides or unused photographic plates.
