A Caithness Glass ‘Ascension’ paperweight, designed by Alastair Macintosh, Scotland, circa 1980s. This ovoid-shaped art glass paperweight features an intricate internal lampwork design. The composition exhibits a dark purple/black top, transitioning to a translucent lavender mid-section, and grounded by a dark blue base speckled with white frit, evoking a cosmic or deep-sea effect. A vibrant red, starburst-like form is suspended within the lavender layer, surrounded by numerous deliberate air bubbles. The base is etched with the identifying marks “P 7885”, “Caithness”, “ASCENSION”, and “Scotland”.
