A pair of hand-colored caricatures or humorous illustrations on paper, published by Pears after W.G. Baxter, titled “A Quiet Game at Nap.” Each print depicts a scene of four men playing a card game. The first illustration is subtitled “I. – “NAP FOR ALL HE IS WORTH!”” and the second is subtitled “II. – “SPOOFED, BY JOVE!””. These pieces are signed “W. G. Baxter” on the lower left and “Pears” on the lower right, and likely date to the late 19th or early 20th century. They are presented within dark wooden frames, possibly with gesso and gilt accents, under glass with a light-colored mat.
