A pair of Limoges, France, cobalt blue and gold miniature jug pitchers. Each features a bulbous body, narrow neck, prominent spout, and an ornate, fully gilded handle. The items are finished in a rich, dark cobalt blue glaze, extensively decorated with intricate gold gilding. The decoration includes rococo-inspired scrollwork, floral motifs, and figural scenes depicting elegantly dressed couples in pastoral settings. Visible markings on the base of one piece include a circular monogram, “LIMOGES,” “FRANCE,” and “FABRIQUE ET DECORE LIMOGES (FRANCE),” which translates to “MANUFACTURED AND DECORATED LIMOGES (FRANCE).” The word “Limoges” is also present in gold script within the side decoration.
