A pair of East German (DDR) ‘Kollektiv der Sozialistischen Arbeit’ awards, dating from the Cold War period. The primary item is a square-shaped award crafted from a base metal, likely bronze or copper-plated, with enamel detailing. It features a central red enamel disc displaying the German Democratic Republic’s emblem (hammer, compass, and rye wreath), encircled by the German text “KOLLEKTIV DER SOZIALISTISCHEN ARBEIT” (Collective of Socialist Labor) and radiating lines. The reverse is embossed with the motto “SOZIALISTISCH ARBEITEN LERNEN UND LEBEN” (Socialist Work, Learn, and Live) and is fitted with a standard pin-back attachment. The secondary item is a rectangular ribbon bar or miniature award, which depicts the East German emblem set against a black, red, and gold striped background, encased in clear enamel or resin, also with a pin-back.
