An early 20th Century sterling silver footed compote by F. E. Betts, assayed in Birmingham in 1906-1907. The piece features a scalloped and fluted rim and a matching pedestal base. Hallmarks visible on the rim include ‘FEB’ for F. E. Betts, a lion passant confirming sterling silver standard, an anchor symbol for the Birmingham assay office, and a lowercase ‘g’ date letter for 1906-1907. A decorative rampant lion motif is present on the stem.
