General Sale - 1st September 2025
A Yawman & Erbe multi-compartment oak mail or document sorter, likely dating from the mid-20th century. Constructed from a medium-toned hardwood, possibly oak, with visible grain, the unit features a top shelf, five open-fronted pigeonhole compartments above, and five individually hinged and lockable compartments below. Each lower compartment is fitted with a circular metal lock and a clear plastic nameplate holder. The leftmost compartment’s nameplate is an etched metal plaque inscribed with “MR. JEAN MONCHAMBERT / 26 RUE DU CLUB ROJAS / ASUNCION,” referring to Mr. Jean Monchambert at 26 Club Rojas Street in Asunción, Paraguay. The back panel is unfinished plywood, indicating utilitarian construction.
