General Sale - 1st September 2025
An antique oval-shaped, hinged box, likely a snuff, patch, or pill box. The lid features a dark, polished surface, identified as pique work, likely tortoiseshell, adorned with an inlaid or applied silver motif depicting a draped bow above a basket of flowers, suggestive of a classical decorative style. The box is crafted from silver, with the interior base faintly stamped ‘900,’ indicating a silver fineness of 900 parts per 1000. This fineness suggests a Continental origin, consistent with late 18th or 19th-century production.
