General Sale - 1st September 2025
This lot features a STERLING COLLECTION of eight pre-decimal British coins, professionally mounted and presented within a traditional dark brown wood-look frame with a gold inner trim, set against a dark grey mat. The coins are arranged horizontally, each accompanied by its denomination and a brief descriptive text printed below. From left to right, the collection includes a Halfcrown (dated 1948, depicting “FID DEF IND IMP” and a coat of arms, appearing silver-toned), a Florin (silver-toned), a Shilling (silver-toned), a Sixpence (silver-toned), a 12-sided Brass Threepence (brass-toned), a Penny (copper-toned), a Halfpenny (copper-toned), and a Farthing (dated 1944, copper-toned). The accompanying texts provide information on the coins’ periods and materials, such as “cupro-nickle” for later Halfcrowns, “bronze” for the Penny from 1797, and “copper” for the Halfpenny minted in 1860. The entire display is explicitly labeled “STERLING COLLECTIONS” at the bottom center.
