Lot 202: A.E. Taylor (1930) Esso Plan of the Great North Road, Framed Pictorial Map

A pictorial map titled ‘Esso Plan of the Great North Road’, drawn by A.E. Taylor in 1930. This large, vertically oriented map depicts a route from London to Edinburgh across England and Scotland, featuring illustrative landmarks and place names. Printed on paper or mounted to a board, it exhibits a distinctly vintage style consistent with mid-20th century advertising. The map includes a compass rose and mentions ‘Esso Petrol,’ ‘Esso Golden,’ and ‘Esso Extra,’ providing historical context for the road and points of interest. It is housed in a simple, dark-stained wooden frame, likely pine, with a visible plywood backing.
