A Japanese Meiji Period Satsuma Style Polychrome Enamel Porcelain Baluster Vase. This large, baluster-form vase is decorated with extensive polychrome enamels in a Japanese style. The main body features a continuous panoramic scene depicting multiple figures in traditional attire within a landscape of trees bearing red fruit, stylized clouds, and mountains. The neck and shoulder are adorned with panels of vibrant floral motifs, including peonies and chrysanthemums, separated by geometric bands of diamond lattice and wave patterns in red, blue, orange, and yellow. The flared rim exhibits a repeating heart-shaped motif, and gold accents are present throughout the design. No visible artist’s or maker’s marks are apparent on the exterior.
