General Sale - 1st September 2025
A pair of Limoges hand-painted porcelain brooches, each featuring an oval-shaped plaque set within a twisted rope-design metal frame. The first brooch, set in a tarnished silver-toned metal, depicts a bust-length portrait of a woman in elaborate 18th-century attire, including a powdered wig and pearl necklace, rendered in a Rococo or Neoclassical style. The second brooch, set in an aged brass-toned metal, presents a pastoral or “fête galante” scene with a man and woman in period costume within a wooded landscape, echoing 18th-century European art. Both pieces are consistent with a late 19th or early 20th-century revival period. No discernible text or markings are visible on the front of either item.
