An African carved wood fertility figure, likely from the Congo region. The dark brown figure depicts an anthropomorphic form in an ethnographic style. It features a prominent, flattened circular head with incised cross-hatching across the crown, closed eyes, a defined nose, and a small mouth. Stylized scarification marks are visible as incised lines on the face and the torso, which also exhibits short, stubby arms and legs standing on an integral cylindrical base. The wood shows a rich, dark patina.
Height: 7.5 inches (19 cm)
