A Sir Joseph Banks Royal Horticultural Society Banksian Award Medal, cast in bronze. The circular medal features on its obverse a classical-style profile bust of Sir Joseph Banks facing right, encircled by the inscription “SIR JOSEPH BANKS F.R.S. BORN 1743 DIED 1820”. The reverse is inscribed “THE ROYAL HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY” around the perimeter, with the central inscription “AWARDED BY SOUTH SUBURBAN CO-OP. HORT. SOC. TO MR E. GLEW 1943”. A short length of blue ribbon is attached. The medal is presented within its original dark blue textured presentation case with a blue velvet interior and a metal clasp.
