General Auction including Gold, Silver & Cars ( 14% Buyers Commission )
A group of four Edward I Sterling type silver pennies. Each coin features a hammered silver composition with an obverse depicting a crowned bust or head, surrounded by traces of Latinate inscriptions, including ‘EDWARDVS REX’. The reverse consistently displays a long cross design, often extending to the rim and quartered by pellets or annulets, with ‘CIVITAS LON’ faintly discernible on some examples, indicating a London mint. All coins exhibit characteristics consistent with medieval European coinage, including irregular shapes and varying degrees of detail loss.
