The obverse designs feature various national emblems of the United Kingdom, including a Welsh Dragon, the Three Lions of England, a Scottish Lion Rampant, a Scottish castle (likely Edinburgh Castle) inscribed with the Latin motto “NEMO ME IMPUNE LACESSIT” (“No one provokes me with impunity”), and a Celtic cross representing Northern Ireland.
