A wall-mounted weather instrument, identified as a Regency style inlaid mahogany banjo wheel barometer. The piece features an aneroid barometer and a mercury-filled thermometer, both set into a shaped wooden plaque of stained hardwood, likely mahogany. The plaque’s design includes a central oval housing the barometer, with an upper extension for the thermometer, and decorative elements such as inlaid sunburst motifs at the top and bottom, and stylized leaf designs flanking the thermometer. The barometer, encased in a brass-tone bezel, displays a dial marked with “STORMY, ” “RAIN, ” “CHANGE, ” “FAIR, ” and “VERY DRY, ” along with pressure readings from 26 to 31, and is inscribed “Aneroid Barometer MADE IN ENGLAND.” The thermometer presents a scale ranging from approximately 20 to 110-120 degrees Fahrenheit, with indicators for “BLOOD HEAT, ” “SUMMER HEAT, ” “TEMPERATE, ” and “FREEZING.”
