A cased set of nine electro-plated nickel silver (EPNS) spoons by Slack & Barlow of Sheffield, featuring a distinctive scallop or oyster shell pattern. The set comprises one larger serving spoon, displayed in the lid, and eight smaller individual spoons, arranged in the base. The spoons are crafted in a decorative style, characterized by heavily fluted, shell-shaped bowls and intricate patterned handles. A clear marking on the reverse of a spoon identifies the material as “EPNS ON NICKEL SILVER.” The set is presented in a rectangular, red-brown faux leather case adorned with gold-colored clasps, lined internally with cream-colored satin in the lid and dark red velvet-like material in the base.
